Privacy

Your data, in plain words.

Lucioly is built to teach you things, not to watch you. Here is everything we collect, and why. This is a plain summary, not legal advice.

What we collect

  • Anonymous usage stats, only if you say yes. On this website: pages viewed, and a few actions like opening a lesson, switching its length, opening the simple (ELI5) version, filtering the library, tapping a star on the map, or getting a share card. In the app: lessons opened and finished, and the same kind of actions.
  • These events are tied to a random id, never to your name or email. We use them to see what helps people learn and come back, and what doesn't.
  • Your learning progress: the subjects you picked, your settings, the lessons you finished with their quiz scores, and your review schedule. It is kept in your browser (or the app) and backed up to an anonymous account so it isn't lost, with no name or email attached. That includes your "more / less like this" votes on lessons.
  • Share links carry a random code tied to your anonymous account (not your name, email or account id). If a friend starts learning from your link, we record that once, so you can see how many friends joined, never who.
  • Daily reminders, only if you turn them on: your browser's push address (issued by its push service, e.g. Google or Apple), your time zone and the hour you chose. Turning reminders off deletes it.
  • Your email, only if you give it to us: to keep your progress across devices or to sign in. It is never sent to our analytics.

What we don't do

  • No ads, no ad trackers, no selling or renting your data. Ever.
  • No session recordings, no recording of what you type, and no search text in our stats.
  • We don't keep your IP address with usage stats.
  • No tracking cookies. If you accept, an anonymous id is kept in your browser's local storage.

Where it lives

  • PostHog, EU cloud: anonymous usage stats.
  • Supabase, EU (Ireland) region: lessons, learning progress, accounts.
  • Vercel: hosts this website (it sees standard request logs, like any web host).

Saying no, or changing your mind

Nothing is tracked until you click Accept. Click Decline and nothing is sent, at all. Your choice is saved in this browser only; change it any time with (also at the bottom of every page). Clearing your browser's site data resets it. In the app, analytics can be turned off in the settings.

Want your account and progress deleted, or a copy of what we hold? (Reset progress in Me clears what you learned.) Write to privacy@…
